Soviet Cosmonaut Mosaics

Here is my second installment celebrating yesterday's 50th anniversary of mans first flight into outer space. 

This mosaic mural depicting Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova (who became the first woman in outer space on June 16, 1963) adorns the exterior of an elementary school in Mellingen, Germany. Images via 1 & 2

These are so great! To think, as I was graduating high school these were being created. The space program was at it's height in the mid to late 60's. I wish the generation of today knew what it has done for our lives.
