The previous home of mid-century modern architect Jules Gregory is currently on the market for $1.25 million. The Lambertville, NJ house was designed and built by Gregory in 1960 for an original cost of $30,000. In 1961 it was selected by Architectural Record Magazine as one America's best 10 houses. The 1,664 sq ft house sits on 10 acres and features 4 bedrooms and 2 baths as well as a detached 1,200 sq ft guest house.
One of the many aspects that I love about this house, is how Gregory emphasized the unique interior space created by the double conoid roof by integrating room partitions that stopped short of the roof decking; in order to create acoustic privacy, glass was then used to span the remaining distance to the roof. WOW!
The home has been listed for sale by its current owner Benjamin Storck, who can be reached at benjamin@modern1.com. All photos shown above are from the original listing.
